Peter Richards is a director, actor, and producer celebrated for his bold vision and passion for innovative theater. His career spans classical adaptations, contemporary American plays, and experimental works.

Peter has garnered critical acclaim for his daring productions, including a 2015 site-specific adaptation of Chekhov’s The Seagull, staged on a farm in Maine, and a community-driven interpretation of Julius Caesar that featured local residents as a Greek chorus. His foray into contemporary drama includes staging Pulitzer-nominated Dying City by Christopher Shinn, Obie-winning The Aliens by Annie Baker, and the West Coast premiere of Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally by Kevin Armento. Peter’s love for avant-garde theater is evident in his work as a founding member of Conni’s Avant Garde Restaurant, with performances at New York venues such as The Ohio Theater and The Bushwick Starr. Beyond professional productions, Peter has dedicated himself to nurturing emerging talent through educational theater projects at Bates College in Maine.

Peter holds an MFA in Acting from Harvard University’s Institute for Advanced Theater Training and a BA in Social Studies from Harvard College.

When he’s not directing, acting, or producing, Peter enjoys spending time with his wife Naia, children Anya and Hero, and their beloved miniature dachshund, Sharky.
